Wedding Registry Ideas: What to Put on Your Registry in 2026
Building a registry is weirdly stressful, so we made this easier. Below are the wedding registry ideas people actually buy in 2026, sorted by category (kitchen, home, experiences, cash funds, honeymoon), plus the one rule for how many items to add per guest so nothing sits there unclaimed a week before the wedding.

- By category
- Includes cash funds
How many items should you register for?
Rule of thumb: 2-3 gifts per invited guest, across a wide price range. So for 100 guests, list roughly 200 items priced from $20 up to $500+. Include at least 15-20 items under $75 for coworkers, plus-ones, and shower attendees.
Kitchen
- A stand mixer. More couples get gifted one of these than anything else on a registry.
- An enameled cast-iron Dutch oven, Le Creuset or Staub.
- A chef's knife and a paring knife.
- Espresso machine or grinder.
- Everyday dinnerware for twelve, plus a few serving platters.
- Sheet pans, cooling racks and a digital scale.
Home & bedroom
- Sateen or percale sheets in two colors.
- A duvet and insert, down or the alternative.
- Bath towels, hand towels, and bath mats in matching sets.
- A vacuum worth owning.
- Barware: coupes, rocks glasses, decanter, cocktail shaker.
Cash funds, honeymoon & experiences
Most registries now mix real objects with cash funds. Guests who would rather not ship a box tend to prefer them.
- Honeymoon fund broken into experiences: dinner in Rome, snorkeling day, hotel upgrade.
- Home down-payment fund.
- Charitable donation fund.
- Wine club or cooking class subscription.
What to skip on your registry
- Trend appliances like bread makers and ice cream churns. They live in a cupboard by spring.
- Fine china you'll never wash by hand.
- Anything you already own a working version of.
Frequently asked questions
- When should we set up our wedding registry?
- Before the save-the-dates go out, so six to eight months ahead. People shop for the engagement party and shower as well.
- Is it rude to ask for cash on a wedding registry?
- No. Cash funds are normal now, particularly for couples who already share a home. Naming them after something specific, like a dinner in Santorini, gets them claimed faster than a blank fund.
- How many stores should we register at?
- Two or three at most. A kitchen and home store, a department store, and one place that handles cash and experience funds.
- Do we send thank-you notes for every registry gift?
- Yes, handwritten, within two or three months of the gift arriving. Keep a list so none of them get missed.
